Watson’s choice to review his lbw decision caused Warner to explode

Having gotten himself into enough trouble already, Australia opening batsman David Warner distanced himself from his brother’s derogatory tweets about all-rounder Shane Watson on Twitter, stating that “I do not endorse his comments”.

Warner’s brother, Steven, launched a verbal tirade against Watson on Twitter, calling the 32-year-old a “pretender” and demanding that his brother be included in the Ashes squad after he was shipped off to South Africa with the Australia A squad by Cricket Australia to gain some much-needed match practice due to his recent suspension for punching England’s Joe Root at the Walkabout bar in Birmingham during the Champions Trophy.

“Earlier this week, my brother Steven Warner published a tweet about Shane Watson,” Warner said through a statement issued by Cricket Australia. “Like everyone, he is entitled to his opinions but I want to state categorically that I do not endorse his comments and fully support Shane and all my team-mates.”

Steven Warner’s abusive tweet came after Watson decided to review his lbw decision during the first innings of the second Test at Lord’s.

One of the tweets sent out by Warner’s brother said: “F****** selfish Watson the sooner you are out of the side you great pretender the better.”

However, Warner’s brother didn’t stop there as he also took his frustrations out on Cricket Australia, saying: “OK @CricketAus I hope u have a business class seat booked SA to London because its about time u had a batsman there who will have a go.”

Steven Warner also expressed his support for former Australia coach Mickey Arthur and his mission to take Cricket Australia to court for the leaking of his private legal documents and for the racial abuse and scapegoating he claims to have suffered at the hands of the board.

“Good on Mickey Arthur finally letting the truth be known and proving he was just a scapegoat #awesomebloke #gentleman,” Warner said via Twitter.
