The last seven-match ODI series between India and Australia was played in October-November 2009

Australia are set to return to India after their 4-0 whitewashing in the Test series in February-March to play seven ODIs and a one-off Twenty20 International.

The limited overs series between the two cricketing giants will begin with the Twenty20 International in Rajkot on October 10 and will be followed by the seven ODIs, all of which will be day-night matches.

The last two ODIs will be played in Bangalore, while the remaining five will be played in Pune, Jaipur, Mohali, Ranchi, Cuttack and Nagpur.

Australia’s last seven-match ODI series against India came back in October-November 2009 when they beat the Indians 4-2 after the final ODI in Mumbai was abandoned due to bad weather.

The last ODI series between the two nations was a three-match series in October 2010, which India won 1-0 after two of the matches were washed out.

Australia will head to India after their ongoing Ashes series against arch-rivals England, while India only have a tour of Zimbabwe on their schedule.

However, with the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) scheduled to take place between September 17 and October 6, there will only be a three-day gap between the final of the tournament and the Twenty20, which is set to be held on October 10.

After their limited overs tour of India, Australia will return home to host England for the second leg of the Ashes series, which is scheduled to get underway on November 21 in Brisbane.
