Christian was shocked by the unexpected omission
Australia all-rounder Daniel Christian’s first-class future is now in absolute tatters after he was dropped from the South Australia squad just weeks after helping the Brisbane Heat be crowned champions of the 2013 Big Bash League (BBL).
The final four first-class games of the Sheffield Shield season could have given Christian the opportunity of getting back into the Test squad and fill the all-rounder’s position, which was recently vacated by Shane Watson after he decided to give up bowling in order to prolong his international career.
Christian is expected to be included in Australia’s one-day side after his match-winning knock of 37 from 21 balls for the Brisbane Heat.
Christian noted that he did not see the omission coming and does not believe it has anything to do with the one-game suspension he received in November for his aggressive attitude after being dismissed.
Just a few months ago, Christian was representing his country and now he is back to square one and will have to work his way up from the club level to regain his spot in the South Australia side and eventually the national team as well.
