Warner is confident that his Test future is secure

Despite only having one significant innings throughout the three-Test series against South Africa, which came in the first innings of the second Test at Adelaide, Australia opening batsman David Warner has vowed to carry on playing his natural attacking game in future series as well.

Warner’s 119 off 112 deliveries, which included 16 boundaries and four sixes entertained the Adelaide crowd and showed why he is one of the best big-hitting opening batsmen in the world.

“If the ball is there I’m still going to hit it, because that’s my game and that’s how I score my runs for the team,” News.com.au quoted Warner as saying. ” If I show intent, put the pressure back on them, then I know I’m doing my job rather than sitting there reacting.

“You know you’re going to get consistent areas from them all the time, if I show intent and put pressure on them by getting a couple away, then I’m winning the battle, at the end of the day, the way I play, I’m going to be hit-and-miss here and there but I’m trying to learn to be a bit more consistent.”

However, after some comments made by national selector John Inverarity, there has been increasing speculation that Warner may not be included in the Test squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka since he only had one outstanding performance throughout the entire South Africa series, but the flamboyant opener is confident that his spot on the roster has never been more secure.

“That’s up to John, he’s the selector … we’ve just got to wait and see what they come up with,” Warner added.
