Hilfenhaus believes Twenty20 cricket is to blame for his bowling being all over the place lately

Australia pace bowler Ben Hilfenhaus has attributed his inconsistent bowling in Test cricket as of late to the increasing number of Twenty20 Internationals he has been involved in year after year.

Hilfenhaus struggled against South Africa recently and believes that his preparations prior to the series were far from ideal since he only played one Sheffield Shield match after returning from Sri Lanka and South Africa, where he participated in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20 and Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20).

News.com.au quoted Hilfenhaus as saying: “I think with the T20 format, I find that when I do too many yorkers I try and sling it in and my arm gets a bit lower to try and get that little bit of reverse (swing), that’s a little technical thing which needs a little bit of tweaking, but I think when you go back to the four-day format, it’s just as important to make sure you go back to what you know is right.”

Hilfenhaus is looking to regain the form he was in when Australia whitewashed India 4-0 in January.

“I guess I’m close to it (the form showed against India), probably not the quite the same rhythm at the moment but that is something that will come the more and more time spent out in the middle,” Hilfenhaus added.
