Lyon is looking forward to the prospect of picking up a lot of wickets during the series
Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon has announced that he will not be intimidated by the South African batting lineup or bowling attack ahead of their three-Test series, which starts on November 9 in Brisbane.
Lyon noted that as long as he believes in his abilities and practices hard before the start of the first Test, there should be no need for concern.
The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Lyon as saying: “I have to just worry about myself and worry about my performance for South Australia first and keep working hard and things will look after themselves, if you do you already have one foot out the back door. I’m definitely not intimidated by the South Africans, it will be a great challenge for me if I’m selected … I would welcome the challenge.”
Lyon, who was part of the Australian squad when they drew their two-Test series against the Proteas in November last year, stated that he will be concentrating on varying his flight and spin, while also looking to get the most out of the pitch in Brisbane.
“It was nice to get a little taste, but I’m looking at taking up the challenge of bowling to some of the best batsmen in the world. I plan to stick to my strengths and stay strong and put in a good performance. I’m just going to have to bowl patiently,” Lyon added.
