Paine is desperate to restart his international career
Former Australia wicketkeeper Tim Paine has announced that he wants to regain his spot in the country’s limited overs squads after fully recovering from a hand injury that severely derailed his international career.
Paine had to go through three rounds of surgery to his hand, before watching, in utter dejection, as his rival Matthew Wade was selected over him to replace Brad Haddin in the West Indies series earlier this year.
“Two years out of the game, I have probably dropped back down the order, I’m really happy with where my game is but I realise I have to put in some time to build my numbers up,” Paine said.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Paine believes his best option at making a comeback will be through the ODI and Twenty20 squads rather than the Test team.
“It’s probably closer than the Test recall. But I’m not going to put any sort of timeframe on it. I’m just happy at the moment to be back playing for Tassie,” Paine added.
