A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Zaka Ashraf denies giving the order to drop Abdul Razzaq for World T20 semi-final

Ashraf made it clear that he had nothing to do with Razzaq being dropped in the semi-final

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has denied allegations that he told Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez to drop all-rounder Abdul Razzaq for the semi-final of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20 against Sri Lanka.

The PCB handed Razzaq a show cause notice after he stirred up some controversy by lashing out against Hafeez without having the right to talk to the media.

“I am not involved in the team selection,” Ashraf said bluntly.

When asked about Pakistan’s performance in the World Twenty20, in which the lost to Sri Lanka in the semi-finals, Ashraf stated that he was proud of the team since they were one of the last four teams standing.

But, Ashraf also criticised the pitch the semi-final was played on.

Razzaq was disgusted about only being selected to play in one match, and said: “If he has dropped me, he should say that it was his (Hafeez’s) decision to drop me, and that he is the captain and it”s his planning.”

Razzaq was replaced by pace bowler Sohail Tanvir for the semi-final.
