Prior has contributed heavily with the bat for England throughout the series
England wicketkeeper batsman Matt Prior has revealed that thinks every moment in the current series against South Africa is going to be better than that of the traditional Ashes series, where the English play against their arch-rivals Australia.
With England losing 1-0 and having just one Test remaining to tie the series, Prior believes that the final Test will be a huge challenge for his team.
The Mirror, quoted Prior as saying: “It’s going to be a huge series, a tough series, because playing South Africa is always a great challenge. The Ashes gets a huge amount of hype because of its history, but this series will be just as intense if not more so because of the quality.”
Prior stated that England loves playing against top ranked teams, and that the entire squad was looking forward to the final Test at Lord’s.
“Anyone who knows this England team will recognise that we thrive on challenges and facing opponents that play tough cricket. At the end of the three Tests there are going to be some pretty tired blokes – both physically and mentally. In any big series you have critical moments, those short periods of time that determine how things end up. We have to make sure we are on the right side of those. Things like making sure – if you take early wickets – that you follow that up and remain as ruthless as you possibly can be. There will be times when we will be up, and we will have to make sure we stay up. But there will be times when we are down and we will have to fight hard,” Prior added.
