Mushtaq has helped many international players with their spin bowling
Former Pakistan spin legend Saqlain Mushtaq has been named as one of the leading candidates to become Bangladesh’s new spin bowling coach.
Mushtaq was the fastest bowler to reach the milestones of 100, 150, 200 and 250 ODI wickets.
Since retiring from international cricket, Mushtaq has taken up several minor coaching roles, where he has shared his knowledge and expertise with players all around the world.
With a vast amount of understanding and knowledge of the game, Mushtaq has even opened up his own coaching academy in Luton, England.
“Yes, it’s accurate that I’ve been approached by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the role of spin bowling coach. I’m honoured that they have approached me; it would be a good opportunity and great challenge for me. I have not signed a deal yet to become the Bangladesh spin bowling coach but my agent is in discussions with the BCB,” Mushtaq said.
If Mushtaq were to selected as the new spin bowling coach, he would have a variety of Bangladeshi spinners to work with, which include Abdur Razzak, Shakib Al Hasan, and Suhrawadi Shuvo.
If Mushtaq helped transform the young Bangladeshi spinners into serious threats, then Bangladesh would continue seeing an upward trend in their cricketing abilities, and further more they could also become real contenders when playing against top-ranked nations.
