Trott admitted that England would miss Pietersen in the limited overs format
England batsman Jonathan Trott has expressed no real surprise at Kevin Pietersen’s decision to retire, but is disappointed to lose him in the limited overs format.
Pietersen’s decision to retire from limited overs cricket came as a huge shock to all those in the cricketing community, since he had just found his form in ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals.
Pietersen, last represented his country in an ODI series against Pakistan, which ended up with England winning 4-0, and Pietersen scoring back-to-back centuries in the last two ODIs.
Trott, when asked about Pietersen’s rather hasty decision to call it a day, said: “It wasn’t a huge surprise. You can understand it in a way, but it’s a huge disappointment as well.”
Trott, stated that Pietersen will be missed when England play in limited over matches, but wished him all the best as a Test batsman.
“Kev’s his own guy and has to make his own decisions. The team fully support his decision. Whatever he decides to do with his cricketing career is fine,” Trott added.
