Pybus is looking to make Bangladesh one of the biggest threats in international cricket
Newly appointed Bangladesh coach Richard Pybus has announced that he wants the team to continue building on their impressive results in the past couple of tours in order to remain competitive in the international cricket scene.
Pybus, who spoke to reporters for the first time since taking the post, said: “We want to go up in the rankings in all formats, I look forward to working with the young group of players, help them improve and identify the key areas where we need to work. It’s about maximising the potential we have.”
Bangladesh, who are currently ninth in the rankings for both Test cricket and ODIs, enjoyed a great run of success in the Asia Cup, where they beat 2011 World Cup winners India and World Cup runners up Sri Lanka, before falling to a heart-breaking two run loss against Pakistan in the final.
“Its important to build on the momentum that has already been created and reach the goal we set for ourselves,” said Pybus.
Pybus, also noted that he was extremely excited with the challenge he had been set, and looks to get started on solving the problems of the current Bangladesh squad right away.
“I will spend the next few months getting to know every player and assess how we can go forward,” he said.
