Ponting states that he still has the passion and fight in him to carry on his Test legacy

Former Australia captain, Ricky Ponting has revealed that he is in no mood of ending his Test career any time soon, and even said that he is gearing up to play against the South Africans later this year.

Ponting, who is currently 37 years old, stated that he still has energy and passion to keep representing Australia.

Ponting, said that his “love for the game and passion and desire to play and be successful hasn’t changed.”

The former captain, quit ODI cricket after being dropped during the Commonwealth Bank series earlier in the year, but vowed to keep his Test career alive.

With Ponting making 57 in the second innings of the third Test against the West Indies, he proved that he still has some fight left in him.

Sports24, quoted Ponting as saying: “I’ve still got a few things I want to achieve and a few games of cricket I want to be a part of and win for Australia. As long as I feel I can play a role winning games of cricket for Australia I’ll continue to do it. I’m enjoying it as much as ever and probably working harder than ever on my game.”

Current Australian Test captain, Michael Clarke, has also voiced his support for the veteran of 164 Test matches, saying: “He’s hitting the ball well, probably hasn’t got that big score that he’d like but none of us have. Conditions haven’t been great for making big hundreds.”
