Bangladesh opening batsman, Tamim Iqbal, has become the latest international player to join the IPL’s Pune Warriors.
With the signing of Iqbal, Pune, have now filled the last of the overseas spots left on their roster.
Speaking exclusively to ESPNcricinfo, Iqbal, said: “I can gain a lot of experience by playing with greats like Sourav Ganguly and Michael Clarke. I like to talk a lot about cricket so I think I am lucky to be playing with them and look forward to learn new things.”
Iqbal, is Pune’s second international signing this week, after they signed Australian Captain, Michael Clarke, a couple days ago.
Iqbal, is confident that he can provide the spark Pune are looking for, and said: “It’ll be an extra boost, so it is very important that I do well. More importantly, just like Shakib opened the door for me, I would want that with my inclusion in the IPL, it will let other players from my country to play in this competition.”
He also plans to use the IPL to get himself in good form for the upcoming Twenty20 International World Cup later in the year.
“With the T20 World Cup coming up this year, it will be a big opportunity for me to perform in the format” he said.
Pune fans will be delighted with the two new international superstars the franchise has signed, and they will be hoping Iqbal, who made four back-to-back half centuries in the recently concluded Asia Cup, can continue his good run of form in the tournament and guide their team to victory.
