Former Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood believes opening batsmen Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal can be consistent run-scorers in the longest format.
Both players have shown plenty of promise so far, with Awais having scored a century on debut earlier this year.
So far, he has gone on to represent Pakistan in seven Tests and amassed 357 runs at an average of 25.50.
Fazal, meanwhile, has accumulated 141 runs in two Tests, which includes two fifties, at an average of 35.25.
“For them, the thing is can they be consistent in Test cricket? I think they have the potential to do that,” Masood was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Neither of them were picked for Pakistan’s recent ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, which the men in green won.
As for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, Awais has kept hold of his place in the side, but Fazal was dropped after Pakistan rejigged their squad.
The Test series will be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore from November 9 to 21.
