Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has compared up-and-coming batsman Sameer Minhas with New Zealand superstar Kane Williamson.
Like Williamson, Ramiz said Minhas possesses the attributes needed to succeed, including the ability to play smart cricket, hit big shots and perform well against spin bowling.
The 19-year-old has already shown considerable promise, and Ramiz believes he is capable of achieving great things in the future.
“Sameer Minhas reminds me a bit of Kane Williamson, you get a mix of almost everything, big shots, smart cricket, very good against spin, use of the feet and delicate touch,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Saj Sadiq on X.
Minhas is currently playing first-class cricket and has scored 342 runs in five President’s Trophy Grade-I matches for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, which includes three fifties, at an average of 48.85.
The teenager was not selected for Pakistan’s ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka and nor was he picked for the upcoming ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England, which will take place from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
