Salman Butt: “If Babar Azam didn’t exist, there wouldn’t be anyone talking about Pakistan cricket, nor anyone listening to Pakistan cricket”

Former opener Salman Butt believes Test captain and top order batsman Babar Azam is the only reason why Pakistan cricket is still relevant.
He noted that if Azam didn’t exist, no one would be talking about cricket in the country.
Since Azam is a superstar of the game, Salman pointed out that people love discussing about the 31-year-old non-stop.
“If Babar Azam didn’t exist, there wouldn’t be anyone talking about Pakistan cricket, nor anyone listening to Pakistan cricket… Because discussions on Pakistan cricket start with Babar and end with Babar too,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.
Azam recently led Pakistan in their two-Test series against the West Indies, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
The Lahore native had a strong showing with the bat in the series, amassing 193 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 96.50.
Next up for Pakistan is a three-Test tour of England, which will take place between August 19 and September 13.
