England all-rounder Sam Curran has heaped praise on Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq, describing him as “very unique and extremely skilful”.
Tariq has enjoyed a meteoric rise in cricket, gaining attention for his unorthodox bowling action and impressive wicket-taking ability.
The off-spinner has also become a regular in Pakistan’s T20I set-up lately, delivering excellent returns with 18 wickets in nine matches at an average of 11.16 and an economy rate of 6.66.
“He’s very unique and extremely skilful,” Curran was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Tariq recently represented the Quetta Gladiators in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took nine wickets in 10 games at an average of 33.55 and an economy rate of 7.55.
Pakistan then faced Bangladesh in a two-Test series, which they lost 2-0, but Tariq was not included in the squad.
Next up for the men in green will be a three-match ODI series against Australia, which will be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore from May 30 to June 4.
