Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq has insisted that he is not chucking, pointing out that he has undergone two official tests which confirm his bowling action is legitimate.
Tariq rose to prominence for his unorthodox action and his ability to pick up wickets consistently.
The 28-year-old has since become a regular face in Pakistan’s T20I side, claiming 18 wickets in nine matches at an average of 11.16 and an economy rate of 6.66.
“As you can see from history, whenever spinners faced allegations of chucking, they went to the lab, tried to modify their action, and worked on the correct degree of flexion. That sometimes confuses spectators,” Tariq was quoted as saying by A Sports.
“I have undergone two official tests in Pakistan, and my action was cleared. Unlike others, I didn’t have to change anything. I was confident because I know I am not throwing.
“If you don’t understand cricket and still comment or share opinions, illiteracy can kill knowledge. It’s better to understand the game first.”
Tariq recently featured in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he picked up nine wickets in 10 games for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 33.55 and an economy rate of 7.55.
