Former Australia opener Aaron Finch has jokingly remarked that Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan “never shuts up behind the stumps.”

Rizwan has long been Pakistan’s first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman, but that is no longer the case in T20Is as he has lost his spot in the team.

As a result, the 33-year-old missed the 2026 T20 World Cup, where the men in green failed to progress beyond the Super Eights.

He did, however, feature in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh that followed, scoring 58 runs in three innings at an average of 19.33.

Despite no longer being the national team’s go-to wicketkeeper-batsman across all three formats, Finch maintained that Rizwan remains a “seriously talented” cricketer.

“Mohammad Rizwan never shuts up behind the stumps, but seriously talented,” Finch was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

Rizwan is now captaining Rawalpindiz in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has accumulated 64 runs in three matches at an average of 21.33 and a strike-rate of 120.75.

Rawalpindiz Squad for PSL 11: Mohammad Rizwan (captain), Sam Billings, Jalat Khan, Yasir Khan, Naseem Shah, Rishad Hossain, Daryl Mitchell, Mohammad Amir, Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Dian Forrester, Laurie Evans, Asif Afridi, Kamran Ghulam, Fawad Ali, Mohammad Amir Khan, Shahzaib Khan, Cole McConchie, Saad Masood
