Pakistan mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed has revealed that he never got the opportunity to showcase his talent during his stints with Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He mentioned that both Zalmi and Kings failed to give him significant chances, while Islamabad preferred to “play their own players.”
Abrar added that his fortunes turned around after he joined Quetta Gladiators, where he began to make a name for himself and has since established himself as one of Pakistan’s go-to spinners in limited-overs cricket.
“I didn’t get a chance in Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, and Islamabad [United] play their own players, Then I went to Quetta, and they believed in me which is why I got success,” the 27-year-old was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Abrar recently represented Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where he took six wickets in four matches at an average of 19 and an economy rate of 7.60.
He then took part in a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh and finished with one wicket in two games at an average of 74.
Abrar is now involved in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has snapped up six wickets in three matches for the Gladiators at an average of 14.50 and an economy rate of 7.25.
