Melbourne Renegades general manager James Rosengarten has revealed that he would sign Pakistan opening batsman Saim Ayub for the Big Bash League (BBL).
Rosengarten’s remarks come shortly after the Renegades brought in Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who featured for the team in the most recent edition of the tournament.
In BBL 15, Rizwan amassed 187 runs in 10 matches at an average of 18.70 and a strike-rate of 102.74.
“If I had the opportunity to draft one more Pakistani player, I would definitely choose Saim Ayub,” Rosengarten told ARY News.
Ayub was recently in action for Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where he scored 70 runs in six games at an average of 14 and a strike-rate of 137.25.
He also took five wickets at an average of 14.80 and an economy rate of 7.40.
The men in green did reach the Super Eights in the T20 World Cup, but failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
Pakistan will take to the pitch again shortly as they are scheduled to tour Bangladesh for three ODIs in Mirpur from March 11 to 15.
A slew of changes were made to Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming series, with Ayub being one of the players dropped.
