
Pakistan cricketer Usman Khan: “I’ve never given much thought to my batting position. I play at number five in domestic cricket, and the national team management has planned for me to bat at number five or six”

Pakistan big-hitting batsman Usman Khan has said he is not overly concerned about where he lines up in the batting order, stressing that he is ready to play wherever the team management want him to.
He added that he usually comes in at number five in domestic cricket and has been asked to bat at a similar position in international cricket.
At 30, Usman has been backed by the selectors in recent series, but finds himself under pressure to deliver after an underwhelming start to his Pakistan career.
“I’ve never given much thought to my batting position. I play at number five in domestic cricket, and the national team management has planned for me to bat at number five or six,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Recently, Usman feature in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Australia and amassed 71 runs in two matches, which included a career-best 53, at an average of 35.50 and a strike-rate of 142.
He is now representing the men in green in the 2026 T20 World Cup, but hasn’t scored a single run yet as he was dismissed for a duck against both the Netherlands and United States of America.
Pakistan’s next match will be against India on February 15 in Colombo.
