Former cricketer Yasir Hameed has hailed star batsman Babar Azam as “an asset for Pakistan”, adding that it is always a pleasure to watch him in action.

Widely regarded as one of the most popular and technically gifted players in the country, Azam continues to command immense support every time he steps onto the field, with fans eagerly hoping to see him produce big scores.

After a challenging period marked by inconsistent form, the 31-year-old has shown promising signs of regaining his touch. His standout performance came during Pakistan’s ODI series against Sri Lanka in November 2025, when he scored an unbeaten 102 – his first international century in over two years.

Most recently, Azam was involved in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Australia and amassed 76 runs, which included a top score of 50 not out, at an average of 38 and a strike-rate of 124.59.

“Obviously, when he plays, it is always a treat to watch… So, he’s an asset for Pakistan,” Hameed told PakPassion.

Azam is now representing Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup and began his campaign with scores of 15 and 46 against the Netherlands and United States of America respectively.

Pakistan’s next match will be their highly-anticipated clash against India on February 15 in Colombo.
