Former Pakistan batsman Yasir Hameed wants T20I captain Salman Ali Agha to evolve into a finisher in the shortest format as he feels it would really benefit the national team.

Salman has been one of Pakistan’s top performers as of late as he has consistently scored runs across all three formats.

In Pakistan’s last T20I assignment, which was a three-match series against Australia, the 32-year-old scored 120 runs, which included a career-best 76, at an average of 40 and a strike-rate of 171.42.

While acknowledging Salman’s class and reliability as a batsman, Hameed said he would like to see the Lahore-born cricketer finish games more regularly, adding that mastering that role could make Salman an even more valuable asset in Pakistan’s T20I set-up.

“Maybe when he comes into that role, he can come and finish games in T20s as well, so that would be a really great sign for Pakistan,” he told PakPassion.

Salman is now captaining Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup and began by scoring 12 runs in the team’s three-wicket win over the Netherlands.

Next up for the men in green will be a clash against the United States of America on February 10 in Colombo.
