Left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir has tipped young batsman Khawaja Nafay to “become a key contributor to Pakistan cricket” in the near future.

The 23-year-old made his international debut during Pakistan’s recent tour of Sri Lanka, scoring 26 runs in his only outing. He also featured in the three-match T20I series against Australia, where he played one game and made 21 runs.

Praising Nafay’s attitude and work ethic, Amir described him as “extremely hardworking” and predicted that the promising batter has what it takes to achieve great success in the years ahead.

“He is extremely hardworking, and that is his biggest strength. If he keeps his focus, he can soon become a key contributor to Pakistan cricket,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Nafay is now representing Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where the men in green started their campaign with a three-wicket win over the Netherlands in Colombo.

Their next match will be against the United States of America on February 10 in Colombo.
