Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jnr said he has been “working hard in the nets” as he wants to seize every opportunity he gets.

Wasim Jnr has been on the bench for quite some time, but has seen more game time as of late.

During the ODI series against South Africa, he only played one match and took one wicket at an average of 48.

He fared much better against Sri Lanka, picking up four wickets in two ODIs at an average of 24.25.

Unfortunately, his form took a hit during the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe as he was only able to snare one wicket in three matches at an average of 91 and an economy rate of 7.58.

However, he came roaring back during Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka as he grabbed five wickets in two T20Is at an average of 12.20 and an economy rate of 11.43.

“Being on the bench is part of the game, but I’ve been working hard in the nets. I like to hit hard lengths and mix in my variations,” Wasim Jnr was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan are now involved in a three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore, but Wasim Jnr was not part of the playing XI for the first match.

Wasim earned a spot for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore but didn’t feature in any of the matches.

He was, however, left out from the 2026 T20 World Cup squad, where Pakistan kickstarts their campaign against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo.
