Former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail has expressed surprise over the fact that Babar Azam’s batting stance issue has remained unresolved for such a long time.
Aamer pointed out that Azam’s toes are not correctly positioned when he bats – a technical flaw that, according to him, has been highlighted on numerous occasions.
He added that despite working with numerous coaches over the years, the 31-year-old has yet to make the necessary adjustments to fix the problem.
“Just look at where the toes are. We’ve been pointing out this deficiency for a long time. He worked with so many coaches, but I’m surprised it still hasn’t been addressed,” he was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam’s most recent assignment for the Pakistan team was their T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he made 127 runs in five games, which included a top score of 74, at an average of 31.75 and a strike-rate of 112.38.
Pakistan then toured Sri Lanka for three T20Is, but Azam missed the series as he played for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL).
In the tournament, he amassed 202 runs in 11 matches, which included two fifties, at an average of 22.44 and a strike-rate of 103.06.
Azam is now representing Pakistan in their ongoing three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore.
The men in green hold a 1-0 lead after winning the 1st T20I by 22 runs. In that match, Azam scored 24 runs.
The 2nd T20I will be held on January 31.
