Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has dismissed suggestions that he has an ego, insisting that he is always open to learning and seeking advice from others.

Afridi remains Pakistan’s pace spearhead across all three formats, but now faces even greater expectations as he continues to balance leadership responsibilities with his bowling duties.

The 25-year-old last played for Pakistan during the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he took four wickets in two games at an average of 13 and an economy rate of 7.42.

“I have no ego and I talk to everyone for advice, even our former captains. I don’t look at things that happened in the past,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

After the T20I tri-series, Afridi took part in the Big Bash League (BBL) and claimed two wickets in four matches for the Brisbane Heat at an average of 76.50 and an economy rate of 11.19.

His campaign ended prematurely though as he suffered a knee injury. Additionally, his BBL commitments meant he didn’t feature in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla.

The men in green will return to action very soon as they will face Australia in a three-match T20I series in Lahore from January 29 to February 1.
