Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif wants mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed to permanently be in the playing XI in ODIs.
Abrar has emerged as Pakistan’s go-to spinner in limited overs cricket, consistently taking wickets and delivering game-changing spells.
During the ODI series against South Africa, he was particularly impressive, claiming seven wickets in two games at an average of 11.42.
He also featured in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and picked up three wickets in the one game he played.
Considering the massive impact the 27-year-old has had in his last couple of ODI assignments, Latif thinks he has done more than enough to cement his spot in the side.
“Abrar should be made a permanent member of the playing XI,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Most recently, Pakistan toured Sri Lanka for three T20Is and Abrar finished with three wickets in two matches at an average of 15.66 and an economy rate of 7.83.
Next up for the men in green will be a three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore from January 29 to February 1.
