Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha has lauded emerging left-arm pacer Salman Mirza, describing him as a promising back-up option for Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Afridi remains Pakistan’s premier fast bowler across all three formats, but Mirza has been carving out a strong reputation in T20Is.
The 32-year-old has impressed with the ball, claiming 19 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 14.89 and an economy rate of 6.19.
Most recently, he featured in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla, where he delivered a standout performance, taking three wickets in his only outing at an average of six and an impressive economy rate of 4.50.
“Good that we have a back-up like Salman Mirza for Shaheen Afridi,” Salman was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore, which is scheduled to take place between January 29 and February 1.
