Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali wants to see Shadab Khan keep playing for the national team as he knows the spin-bowling all-rounder can have a massive impact when he is in form.

Shadab has been in and out of the Pakistan squad and recently made his comeback from shoulder surgery.

He featured for the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL) and took seven wickets in six games at an average of 26.57 and an economy rate of 8.85.

The 27-year-old also scored 104 runs at an average of 26 and a strike-rate of 125.30.

After this, he took part in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla and claimed two wickets in two matches at an average of 22 and an economy rate of 7.33.

Batting-wise, he amassed 24 runs at an average of 24 and a strike-rate of 160.

Knowing how valuable of an asset the all-rounder is, Basit feels Shadab should be given more time to show what he can do as he has returned to the national team after a prolonged absence.

“Let Shadab play; he’s a talented player, and if he performs well, he’ll be back,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

The T20I series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka ended as a 1-1 draw.
