Former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail believes Babar Azam “still has a lot of value” in T20Is after watching his recent performances.
Azam made his T20I comeback in Pakistan’s three-match series against South Africa and scored 79 runs, which included a top score of 68, at an average of 39.50 and a strike-rate of 117.91.
The 31-year-old from Lahore then proceeded to take part in the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he made 127 runs in five games, which included a top score of 74, at an average of 31.75 and a strike-rate of 112.38.
Considering his solid contributions, Aamer reckons Pakistan should keep selecting Azam in the shortest format, as he continues to add value to the team.
“He still has a lot of value in this format,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Interestingly, Azam was not selected for Pakistan’s ongoing T20I tour of Sri Lanka, but remains involved in T20 cricket as he is representing the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL).
So far, he has amassed 154 runs in eight matches, which includes two half-centuries, at an average of 25.66 and a strike-rate of 104.05.
