Pakistan opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq has worked on playing match-winning knocks as he considered if a missing piece of his game.
He further expressed that his focus is on consistently providing dependable performances as a batter, no matter the format he is playing.
“I felt there was a missing element in my batting – whether in one-day cricket, four-day cricket, or any format. So I’ve worked on how to play match-winning innings for Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Imam recently took part in Pakistan’s two-Test series against South Africa, where he amassed 119 runs, which included a top score of 93, at an average of 29.75.
After the Tests, which ended as a 1-1 draw, the two sides played three T20Is and three ODIs, with the men in green winning both 2-1.
Pakistan then whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in an ODI series before proceeding to emerge victorious in a T20I tri-series that also involved Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
During all of Pakistan’s limited overs series, Imam returned to domestic cricket and featured for Multan Region in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QeA Trophy), which is Pakistan’s four-day tournament.
In the three matches he played, he accumulated 270 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 54.
He then went on to represent Oil & Gas Development Company Limited in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament, where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 457 runs in eight games, which included two hundreds and two half-centuries, at an average of 76.16.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a T20I tour of Sri Lanka, with all three matches taking place in Dambulla from January 7 to 11.
