Pakistan limited overs head coach Mike Hesson explained that power-hitter Mohammad Haris was dropped from the T20I team as he couldn’t make the most of the opportunities that were given to him.
Haris is one of many exciting young talents in the country, but he has failed to score runs consistently whenever he gets called up to the national team.
The 24-year-old hasn’t played for the men in green since the 2025 Asia Cup, where he made 131 runs in seven matches, which included a top score of 66, at an average of 21.83 and a strike-rate of 133.67.
“We gave Mohammad Haris several opportunities, but he couldn’t make the most of them,” Hesson was quoted as saying by A Sports.
After the Asia Cup, Haris did not feature in Pakistan’s home series against South Africa, ODI series against Sri Lanka, and the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
Instead, he went back to play domestic cricket and represented Peshawar Region in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QeA Trophy), which is Pakistan’s first-class competition.
In nine matches, he amassed 534 runs, which included a century and four fifties, at an average of 38.14.
