Former Pakistan seamer Tanvir Ahmed has hailed opening batsman Saim Ayub, saying he has been batting brilliantly and looks like a “world-class talent”.
Ayub has shown flashes of brilliance over the past couple of months, which has been much needed for him following a dry spell.
During Pakistan’s home series against South Africa, he amassed 108 runs in three T20Is, which included an unbeaten 71, at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 150.
He continued to excel in the three-match ODI series as he scored 169 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 56.33.
Things didn’t go as well in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka as he was limited to 39 runs in two games at an average of 19.50.
Ayub then played in Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he made 118 runs at an average of 23.60 and a strike-rate of 114.56.
“Saim Ayub, what a player. Brilliant batting by him, looking world-class talent,” Tanvir said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
