Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has lashed out at power-hitter Mohammad Haris for playing senseless cricket by trying to swing for sixes like a hero.
Haris’ batting has been a major talking point for a long time as every time he is in the national team, he struggles for consistency.
This was evident during the 2025 Asia Cup, where he amassed 131 runs in seven matches, which included a top score of 66, at an average of 21.83 and a strike-rate of 133.67.
Basit noted that the 24-year-old has to stop being so reckless when batting as he has an important role to play whenever he is part of the playing XI.
“You’re playing senseless cricket, just swinging for a six to look like a hero,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted on Facebook.
Haris did not take part in Pakistan’s home series against South Africa, where they drew the Tests 1-1 and won both the T20Is and ODIs 2-1.
Three ODIs against Sri Lanka followed, with the men in green claiming a 3-0 win.
Pakistan are now involved in a T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, which will finish on November 29.
