Former Australia batsman David Hussey has praised Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, branding him as one of the “best left-arm bowlers in the world right now.”

Afridi has been in solid form for the men in green lately despite the added pressure of leading the country in the 50-over format.

During the home series against South Africa, he began with five wickets in two Tests at an average of 28.60.

He then proceeded to claim four wickets in two T20Is at an average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 8.87.

Afridi made his captaincy debut in the three-match ODI series that followed and picked up three wickets at an average of 38.

He wasn’t able to have the same kind of impact in the Sri Lanka ODI series as he just took one wicket in two matches at an average of 86.

“Shaheen Afridi is arguably one of the best left-arm bowlers in the world right now,” Hussey was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan are now involved in a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where Afridi has snapped up one wicket in one game at an average of 34 and an economy rate of 8.50.
