Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has paid a huge compliment to left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi, saying his bowling reminded him of the legendary Wasim Akram.

Wasim is arguably the best-ever fast bowler Pakistan has produced as he had the ability to swing the ball, bowl toe-crushing yorkers, and lethal bouncers.

Latif remarked that watching Afridi bowl and take wickets in his recent matches was like witnessing the Sultan of Swing in action once more.

“Shaheen Afridi has reminded us of Wasim Akram bowling,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Afridi recently played in Pakistan’s home series against South Africa and took five wickets in two Tests at an average of 28.60.

He followed that up with four wickets in two T20Is at an average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 8.87.

As for the three-match ODI series, which marked his debut as ODI captain, the 25-year-old claimed three wickets at an average of 38.

Afridi is now leading the men in green in a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, but has gone wicketless so far.

After this, Pakistan will go up against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in a T20I tri-series from November 18 to 29.
