Legendary Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf has voiced his frustration over top-order batsman Abdullah Shafique’s prolonged struggle to perform consistently in both Tests and ODIs.
Yousuf also pointed out that the 25-year-old has “technical problems” which have yet to be fixed.
Shafique recently played in Pakistan’s two-Test series against South Africa and made 106 runs, which included a top score of 57, at an average of 26.50.
As for the three T20Is and three ODIs, the Sialkot native didn’t feature in both series.
“Abdullah Shafique has technical problems. Over the years, he has shown no performance in Tests and ODIs. [He] scored a hundred against England on a flat wicket,” Yousuf was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan are now facing Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series and hold a 1-0 lead after winning the 1st ODI by six runs.
Once the ODIs conclude, Pakistan will take part in a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe between November 17 and 29.
