Former cricketer Yasir Hameed said Pakistan can’t “expect miracles” from top order batsman Mohammad Haris when he is batting at number six or seven.

Hameed cannot understand why people expect Haris to score runs all the time when he is playing out of position.

Since the 24-year-old is accustomed to playing at the top of the order, Hameed stressed that this is where he belongs.

“You can’t push a top order batsman to No.6 or 7 and expect miracles. Batters must play in positions that suit their strengths,” he told PakPassion.

Haris recently played in the 2025 Asia Cup and scored 131 runs in seven matches, which included a top score of 66, at an average of 21.83 and a strike-rate of 133.67.

After the tournament, Pakistan took on South Africa on home soil, but Haris missed the Tests, T20Is and ODIs.

The Test series concluded as a 1-1 draw, while the men in green won both the T20Is and ODIs 2-1.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka from November 11 to 15.

They will then participate in a T20I tri-series featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe between November 17 and 29.
