Former Australia opener Aaron Finch has praised Pakistan batsman Babar Azam, saying he has “delivered world-class performances across continents”.
His comments come after Azam was signed by the Sydney Sixers for this year’s Big Bash League (BBL).
With this being the first time the 31-year-old will appear in the BBL, Finch has backed him to light up the competition.
“He has delivered world-class performances across continents,” he was quoted as saying by Samaa TV.
Azam missed the 2025 Asia Cup, but did feature in Pakistan’s two-Test series against South Africa, where he accumulated 131 runs, which included a top score of 50, at an average of 32.75.
He earned a recall to the T20I team for the ongoing three-match series against the Proteas, but made a duck in the first match.
Following the T20I series, Pakistan and South Africa will play three ODIs from November 4 to 8.
Following that, Pakistan will challenge Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series from November 11 to 15, before joining a T20I tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
