Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has blasted opening batsman Saim Ayub, saying he has “completely flopped” in T20Is and Tests.

Ayub has continuously gone through hot and cold periods with the bat throughout his international career, which has really frustrated Hafeez.

In fact, the 45-year-old stated that Ayub’s inconsistency “is entirely his own fault,” given the numerous opportunities he has had to prove he deserves to play international cricket.

“Saim’s not taking responsibility, which is entirely his own fault. Every management is giving him opportunities, none of us got so many chances. He has completely flopped in T20Is and Tests,” Hafeez was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ayub recently represented Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup and failed to impress with the bat as he mustered 37 runs in seven games at an average of 5.28 and a strike-rate of 97.36.

Pakistan are involved in a home series against South Africa and drew the two-Test series 1-1.

The men in green and Proteas will now clash in a three-match T20I series from October 28 to November 1.

Next, they will play three ODIs from November 4 to 8.

After completing their series against South Africa, Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series from November 11 to 15.

Following this, Pakistan will feature in a T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
