Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has lauded spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz for being “outstanding” in all three departments – batting, bowling and fielding.
Nawaz has become one of Pakistan’s go-to all-rounders since making his return to the national team.
The decision to bring the 31-year-old back has paid off big time as during Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, he took 10 wickets in five matches, which included a career-best five-wicket haul, at an average of 11.70 and an economy rate of 6.88.
On top of that, he also made 120 runs at an average of 30 and a strike-rate of 133.33.
“Mohammad Nawaz, meanwhile, has been exceptional. He has been outstanding with bat, ball, and in the field,” Hesson was quoted as saying by A Sports.
After the T20I tri-series, Nawaz featured in the 2025 Asia Cup and picked up two wickets in seven games at an average of 43.50 and an economy rate of 7.25.
Batting-wise, he accumulated 113 runs at an average of 18.83 and a strike-rate of 136.14.
Pakistan are now hosting South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
The men in green hold a 1-0 lead in the ongoing Test series and are looking to seal a 2-0 victory in the 2nd Test, which is now in progress in Rawalpindi.
