Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim has no doubt in his mind that left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi is “one of the best bowlers in the world”.
Afridi has a reputation of being one of the most dangerous new-ball bowlers as he often takes wickets in the early overs.
Imad noted that there are concerns regarding the way the 25-year-old bowls, but pointed out the team management are responsible for handling such things.
“[Talking] about Shaheen specifically, one of the best bowlers in the world. People have concerns about how he bowls, how he reacts and stuff, that’s the management’s job to sort him out,” he told PakPassion.
Afridi recently featured in Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, where he took four wickets in four games at an average of 19.50 and an economy rate of 5.57.
He then proceeded to play in the 2025 Asia Cup and finished as Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets in seven games at an average of 16.40 and an economy rate of 6.60.
Afridi is now in action in Pakistan’s Test series against South Africa and has gone wicketless in the ongoing 1st Test in Lahore.
Pakistan and South Africa will play two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
