India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has named big-hitter Fakhar Zaman as the best batsman in the Pakistan team.
In recent matches, Zaman has delivered steady performances for the men in green, regularly contributing crucial runs at the top of the order.
During Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, the 35-year-old amassed 155 runs in five matches, which included a top score of 77 not out, at an average of 38.75 and a strike-rate of 138.39.
The Mardan native then proceeded to represent his country at the 2025 Asia Cup, where he struck 181 runs in seven games, which included a top score of 50, at an average of 30.16 and a strike-rate of 120.66.
“Personally, I believe Fakhar is the best batter in the Pakistan side,” Ashwin was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan managed to make it to the Asia Cup final, but weren’t able to lift the trophy as India beat them by five wickets.
The men in green will return to action soon as they will host South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs, which will take place from October 12 to November 8.
