Legendary batsman Mohammad Yousuf believes it will be a “big boost for Pakistan” if Mohammad Haris can succeed as a finisher.
Yousuf acknowledged that Haris generally plays in the top order, but feels he “can become a crucial player for Pakistan” if he starts scoring runs while batting lower down.
The 24-year-old was recently took part in Pakistan’s T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, where he made 33 runs at an average of 6.60 and a strike-rate of 84.61.
He performed much better in the 2025 Asia Cup, scoring 131 runs in seven games, which included a top score of 66, at an average of 21.83 and a strike-rate of 133.67.
“Mohammad Haris usually plays at the top of the order, but if he settles in the lower order as well, he can become a crucial player for Pakistan. Fakhar Zaman is a selfless cricketer, ready to bat anywhere, yet I believe if Haris succeeds in the finisher’s role, it will be a big boost for Pakistan,” Yousuf was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan made it to the final in the Asia Cup, but failed to be crowned champions as India beat them by five wickets.
