Iconic swing king Wasim Akram wants to see India and Pakistan play a Test series in the near future as he believes it has been too long.

The two countries have not played a bilateral series since the men in green toured India for two T20Is and three ODIs from December 2012 to January 2013.

Since then, India and Pakistan have only faced each other at major cricket events like the 50-over World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and Asia Cup.

Wasim noted that if they were to play a Test series, it would be “a historic spectacle for fans on both sides”.

“It’s my wish that India and Pakistan also resume playing a Test series. It’s been too long, and it would be a historic spectacle for fans on both sides,” he told Telecom Asia Sport as quoted by NDTV.

Pakistan recently played a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, which they won 3-0.

They then travelled to Bangladesh for another T20I series, but ended up losing 2-1.

Next up was a limited overs tour of the West Indies, where the men in green came away with mixed results as they won the T20I series 2-1 but lost the ODIs 2-1.

After touring the West Indies, Pakistan faced the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which they won.

They then took part in the 2025 Asia Cup, where they made it to the final before losing to India.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a home series against South Africa from October 12 to November 8.

The series will consist of two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs.
