Pakistan big-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan admitted he is disappointed with his statistics in T20Is and knows he can do a lot better.

Azam has represented the men in green in 14 T20Is and scored 88 runs at an average of 8.80 and a strike-rate of 133.33.

The 27-year-old son of former captain Moin Khan is working hard to improve his game and hopes to get another opportunity to play for his country in the future so that he can show how good he actually is.

“I’m very disappointed with the runs and average I have in T20Is because I know I can do much better than that,” he was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam played for Islamabad United in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but failed to have an impact as he was restricted to 66 runs in seven games at an average of 11 and a strike-rate of 101.53.

With his last international match coming in June 2024, he did not feature in Pakistan’s three-match series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the tour of Bangladesh, the limited overs tour of the West Indies, and the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in Sharjah.

The men in green are now taking part in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being held in the UAE.

They triumphed over Oman and the UAE in the group stage, while also losing to India.

Pakistan succumbed to another defeat when they played India in the Super Four, but bounced back to beat Sri Lanka to keep their campaign alive.

Next up for them will be a clash against Bangladesh on September 25 in Dubai.
