Pakistan pace bowler Salman Mirza said he doesn’t see himself as an all-rounder as his “primary role is bowling”.

The 31-year-old has impressed a lot of people with his bowling as of late, but said he is working on becoming a finisher so that he can bring more value as a player.

Mirza made his international debut during Pakistan’s T20I tour of Bangladesh in July and stole the spotlight as he took seven wickets at a mind-boggling average of 8.57 and an economy rate of 5.21.

He then proceeded to play in the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, where he claimed one wicket in two games at an average of 74 and an economy rate of 9.25.

“I don’t see myself as an all-rounder. Yes, I can bat a bit, but my primary role is bowling. That said, if the match situation demands it, I should be able to finish games with the bat as well,” the Lahore native was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Pakistan are now involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, which is being played in the UAE.

Mirza is part of the squad, but hasn’t played a single game yet.

The men in green beat Oman and the UAE in the group stage, but also lost to India.

They still managed to advance to the Super Four, which began with them suffering yet another defeat to India.

Pakistan’s next match will be against Sri Lanka on September 23 in Abu Dhabi.
